Rates & FX Macro Strategist – Boutique Sell-Side Firm (Singapore)

We’re partnered with a boutique global research and trading firm seeking a Rates & FX Macro Strategist to join their Singapore office.

This is a high-impact front-office position focused on Asian markets, with primary coverage of China, Japan, and India. The role offers exceptional autonomy to shape macroeconomic research, develop forecasting frameworks, and build the firm’s regional strategy from the ground up.

The Opportunity

You’ll join a small, collaborative macro team working at the intersection of economics, strategy, and trading. The role combines deep policy analysis with quantitative modeling to deliver actionable insights on rates and FX markets.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys end-to-end ownership of their research—from data modeling and forecasting to writing, publishing, and presenting ideas directly to clients and trading desks. With a flat structure and direct access to senior leadership, you’ll have the freedom to set the research agenda and make a visible impact across the firm’s macro offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead macroeconomic research and forecasting for China, Japan, and India, with a focus on policy developments, yield curves, and currency dynamics.

  • Build and refine econometric and quantitative models to forecast interest rates, FX moves, and macro fundamentals.

  • Produce concise, market-relevant strategy notes and present insights to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with trading and sales teams to align macro views with market positioning and client interests.

  • Monitor key data releases, policy meetings, and geopolitical developments to generate timely commentary and trade ideas.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 3–6 years’ experience in macro strategy or economics, ideally focused on Asian markets.

  • Strong understanding of monetary policy, FX dynamics, and rates across emerging and developed Asia.

  • Advanced modeling and econometric skills, with proficiency in Python, R, or EViews.

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Economics, Finance, or a quantitative discipline.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present research clearly and persuasively.

  • Independent, analytical, and motivated by the opportunity to shape research direction in a high-autonomy environment.

This is a rare opportunity to join a boutique firm where your work directly drives market views and client engagement—offering both intellectual freedom and a clear platform for professional growth.
