Asia Macro Strategist- Hedge Fund- London/ Hong Kong
About the Role
We are working on behalf of a global, multi-strategy hedge fund seeking an experienced Macro Strategist with deep expertise in Asia, ideally including China and Japan, to join their macro research and trading team. This is a high-impact role that will support investment decision-making across global portfolios with regional insights, thematic views, and trade-relevant macro analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain in-depth macroeconomic views across Asia, with a particular focus on China and Japan, including growth, inflation, fiscal/monetary policy, and geopolitical developments
Deliver clear, forward-looking research to inform top-down investment strategies across asset classes (rates, FX, equities, credit, commodities).
Collaborate closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Strategists globally to generate high-conviction trade ideas aligned with macro themes.
Present thematic research, risk scenarios, and policy outlooks to internal investment teams.
Candidate Requirements
5+ years of experience in macroeconomic strategy or research, preferably within a hedge fund, global asset manager, or investment bank.
Demonstrated expertise in Asian economies, particularly China and Japan; broader regional coverage is a plus.
Proven ability to translate macroeconomic insights into actionable investment ideas
MSc or PhD in Economics or relevant discipline
Some quantitative experience- econometrics/ quantitative modelling/ python
Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Excel, Python, or R) to build or interpret macro models and dashboards.
