Senior L/S Equity Analyst (Semiconductors & Tech Hardware) – Hong Kong
Octavius Finance, a specialist search firm focused on hedge funds, portfolio management and capital markets, is currently working on behalf of a leading, boutique single manager fund to appoint a senior Long / Short equity analyst or sub PM to join their investment team in Hong Kong.
The firm manages a multi-billion-dollar global equity portfolio and has built a strong reputation for delivering consistent long-term performance through rigorous fundamental research and a disciplined, high-conviction investment approach.
Joining a lean, high-performing investment team, you will play a central role in researching and investing across the global semiconductor sector. Working closely with the Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for developing differentiated investment ideas, conducting in-depth company analysis, and contributing directly to portfolio decision-making. This position offers significant exposure to every stage of the investment process and a clear opportunity to assume increasing responsibility as your track record develops.

Key Responsibilities
Develop deep fundamental coverage of global semiconductor businesses, including chip designers, manufacturers, equipment suppliers and the broader semiconductor ecosystem.
Identify and recommend high-conviction long and short investment opportunities through proprietary research and financial analysis.
Build and maintain detailed financial models, earnings forecasts and valuation analyses.
Track industry trends, technological developments, competitive positioning and supply chain dynamics.
Present investment recommendations and research findings directly to the Portfolio Manager.
Assist with portfolio construction, position sizing and ongoing monitoring of investments.
Review portfolio performance, investment theses and risk exposures on an ongoing basis.
Engage with company management teams, industry specialists and channel contacts to generate differentiated insights.
Requirements
Approximately 3–8 years' experience in equity research, ideally within a buy-side investment firm or hedge fund.
Candidates from the sell side with strong semiconductor research experience are also encouraged to apply.
Experience should include:
Coverage of global semiconductor companies or the broader technology hardware sector.
Fundamental equity analysis and financial modelling.
Developing actionable investment recommendations.
Strong accounting, valuation and analytical capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A genuine interest in investing and global equity markets.
