Investment Internship — Boutique Single-Manager Hedge Fund, London

Our client is a boutique, single-manager hedge who are looking to hire a driven and intellectually curious Investment Intern to join their team. The successful candidate will be embedded in the investment process, supporting research, financial modelling, and idea generation while developing the analytical foundations that underpin a career in active asset management. In previous years, successful cohorts have been offered full time-roles upon completion.

Responsibilities

The intern will maintain and develop financial models across the portfolio, including earnings updates, scenario analysis, and valuation work. They will read and interpret company financial statements, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and translate findings into actionable investment commentary.

Working closely with senior analysts, the intern will contribute to investment memos and internal research notes, monitor portfolio companies for corporate events and earnings releases, assist with screening and early-stage analysis of new ideas, and participate in team investment discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain detailed financial models and valuation frameworks across the portfolio

  • Read and interpret company financial statements, translating findings into clear investment commentary

  • Support senior analysts in conducting fundamental research and preparing investment memos

  • Monitor portfolio companies for earnings releases, corporate events, and sector developments

  • Assist with screening and early-stage analysis of new investment ideas

  • Participate in team investment discussions and contribute to the ongoing research process

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at university or a recent graduate (Russell Group) — all degree disciplines considered; Economics, Finance, Mathematics are particularly advantageous.

  • Strong Excel modelling skills, with the ability to build and interpret financial models

  • Demonstrable ability to read and interpret financial statements across the three core statements

  • Genuine intellectual curiosity about public markets, businesses, and capital allocation

  • Clear, precise communication skills — both written and verbal

  • High attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a strong sense of personal accountability

  • Prior internship experience in finance or investing is advantageous but not required.
