Investment Data Analyst (Python) – London – Hybrid Working

One of our industry-leading software and analytics clients are seeking Investment Data Analysts.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as mathematics, economics, finance, computer science, engineering or related (2:1 or higher)

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in data analysis

  • Highly proficient in Python, Excel, SQL, python toolkits e.g., Pandas, NumPy, etc

  • Comfortable working with version control systems (Git)

  • Advanced ability to create functional and beautiful presentations in PowerPoint

  • Strong analytical thinking with high attention to detail and professional scepticism

  • Comfortable visualizing data with libraries such as matplotlib and seaborn

  • Excellent communication skills to simplify complex details for varied audiences. Experience public speaking or presenting to senior stakeholders would be welcome

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and curate trade, process, and emotional data to identify fund managers’ decision-making biases leading to sub-optimal trades.

  • Explore new data sets and new analytical approaches to help our clients identify behavioural patterns and the root causes of such behaviour.

  • Build complex Excel Spreadsheets and Python scripts to process investment data for detailed financial analytics. You should be comfortable with VBA and advanced formulae (index-match, mmult transpose, nested conditional functions) to perform quick ad-hoc econometric data analysis to test hypothesis and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with software engineers and other data analysts to design reliable analytical modules in production ready Python code. You should already be familiar with Python and CI/CD best practices.

  • Learn the intricacies of portfolio data, investor processes, and markets and apply your knowledge to analytical work.

  • Work closely with users, senior management, and stakeholders across various disciplines to develop complex analytics. Communicate findings with stakeholders and ensure high quality analytics.

  • Develop project artifacts including requirements, documentation, test plans, and project plans.
