Director/ Managing Director – Geopolitical & Strategic Advisory

Octavius Finance is partnering with a leading boutique geopolitical advisory firm to appoint a Director / Managing Director to join its growing New York office.

This is a senior client-facing role focused on delivering high-quality geopolitical and strategic advisory to multinational corporates, financial institutions and other leading organisations. Alongside leading client engagements, the successful candidate will play an important role in business development, helping to grow the firm's presence in the US market while acting as the senior leader within the New York office.

The role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of geopolitical and strategic issues, with clients spanning sectors including consumer goods, financial services, professional services, technology, logistics, automotive, life sciences, real estate, defence and advanced technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic advisory engagements for senior corporate, investment and institutional clients.

  • Drive business development and manage a portfolio of high-value client relationships.

  • Oversee the delivery of geopolitical, policy and strategic risk advisory projects.

  • Work closely with leadership to develop new products, services and client solutions.

  • Champion the adoption of AI across research, intelligence gathering, workflow automation and client delivery.

  • Help define how emerging technologies can enhance analytical capabilities and create competitive advantage for both the firm and its clients.

  • Lead and mentor teams across multiple offices and practice areas.

Candidate Profile

  • 12+ years' experience within strategy consulting, geopolitical advisory, management consulting, corporate strategy or a related field.

  • Proven track record managing senior client relationships and leading complex engagements.

  • Strong commercial instincts with experience originating and growing client mandates.

  • Demonstrated interest in AI, data-driven research and the application of technology to professional services.

  • Experience leading organisational change, transformation initiatives or innovation programmes is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.

  • Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in International Relations, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy or a related discipline.
