Software & Data Engineer – Equity Long/Short Fund
We are working with an established equity long/short fund looking to hire a Software & Data Engineer directly into its investment team.
The fund runs a market-neutral, quantamental equity strategy, combining discretionary investment management with systematic research, alternative data and AI-driven tools.
This is not a traditional technology or central data engineering role. You will sit directly alongside the investment and quantitative research team, with visibility and ownership across the full data lifecycle — from sourcing and ingestion through to productionisation and its use within live investment and research processes.
Technology is embedded throughout the investment process, supporting everything from feature and signal development, screening and idea generation through to portfolio construction, risk management, monitoring and post-trade analysis.
The role will involve:
Building and maintaining robust data pipelines and research infrastructure
Working with large and complex traditional and alternative datasets
Productionising research tools, datasets and workflows
Developing and managing CI/CD pipelines
Improving the scalability, reliability and efficiency of the investment technology platform
Working closely with Portfolio Managers and Quant Researchers to translate investment and research requirements into production-ready solutions
We are looking for:
Approximately 2–5 years' experience in software and/or data engineering
Strong Python development skills
Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines
Strong knowledge of CI/CD and modern development practices
Experience working with large, complex datasets
An interest in financial markets and quantitative investing
Buy-side or financial markets experience is advantageous but not essential
This is a particularly strong opportunity for someone who wants to move closer to the investment process and see how their work directly impacts research and investment decision-making.
