L/S Equity Analyst (Consumer Discretionary) £10bn AUM Platform – London

Our client is a leading US-based hedge fund with over £10bn under management. Following a period of sustained growth, the group have recently taken an exciting strategic step and launched a new London office. The successful candidate will work directly with senior portfolio managers, playing a pivotal role in generating differentiated investment ideas, conducting deep-dive research, and shaping the firm’s European and global consumer discretionary strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed fundamental research on companies within the consumer discretionary sector.

  • Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, and valuation frameworks.

  • Provide actionable investment recommendations to senior portfolio managers.

  • Monitor sector and company-specific developments, identifying both risks and opportunities.

  • Collaborate with a dynamic team of analysts and investment professionals across geographies.

Candidate Profile

  • 3–6 years’ equity research experience in either banking, asset management, or a hedge fund.

  • We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates with shorting experience, as this will be seen as a strong advantage.

  • Deep understanding of sector dynamics, competitive landscapes, and key value drivers.

  • Strong modelling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Ambitious, intellectually curious, and motivated by working in a high-performance, entrepreneurial environment.
