Senior Data Engineer – Asset Manager – London

We’re partnering with a leading asset manager that is making a significant, long-term investment in its data and analytics capability. As part of this transformation, the firm is building out a modern, cloud-native data platform centred on Snowflake, and is looking to hire a Senior Data Engineer to play a key role in its design, evolution, and strategic direction.

This role is well suited to an experienced Senior Data Engineer who enjoys owning core data infrastructure, defining engineering best practice, and acting as a technical lead across a Snowflake-based ecosystem.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Leading the design, build, and optimisation of end-to-end data solutions, with Snowflake as the central analytical warehouse.

  • Driving the migration of legacy data estates into Snowflake, including schema design, performance tuning, cost optimisation, and data modelling for analytics and downstream consumers.

  • Developing scalable, cloud-native Python and SQL pipelines to ingest, transform, and serve data for reporting, research, and business intelligence.

  • Taking technical ownership of the Snowflake platform, including security, performance, reliability, and the adoption of modern features (e.g. tasks, streams, dynamic tables, zero-copy cloning, data sharing).

  • Modernising existing SQL and C#-based workflows, improving data quality, observability, and operational robustness.

  • Partnering closely with data architects, analysts, quants, and senior business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into well-engineered, production-grade data products.

  • Contributing to data governance, lineage, and platform-wide standards as the data estate continues to scale.

What we’re looking for

  • 5–9 years’ hands-on experience in data engineering, with strong SQL and Python.

  • Proven experience building and operating production data platforms, ideally with Snowflake as a core warehouse.

  • Solid understanding of Snowflake architecture, including performance optimisation, cost control, security, and data modelling best practices.

  • Experience working in AWS (or a comparable cloud environment) and building cloud-native pipelines.

  • A strong focus on data quality, reliability, and engineering excellence.

  • The ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and senior non-technical stakeholders.

Why this role?

This is a rare opportunity to join an established asset manager at a pivotal point in its data journey. You’ll take a leading role in shaping a Snowflake-centric platform from both a technical and strategic perspective, helping to define how data is engineered, governed, and consumed across the business for years to come.
