Senior Investment Due Diligence Analyst – External Manager Research (Hedge Fund)
Our client, a leading global hedge fund, is looking to hire an Investment Due Diligence professional to join their external manager research function. This role sits within a specialist team responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and underwriting external Long/Short Equity investment talent, with outputs feeding directly into the firm’s internal research and investment processes rather than capital allocation decisions.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior investment stakeholders to assess best-in-class PMs, develop structured views on investment edge and risk, and ensure a consistent, institutional approach to manager evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth investment due diligence on external L/S equity PMs and hedge fund strategies
Assess investment philosophy, idea generation, portfolio construction, risk management, and performance drivers
Produce high-quality qualitative and quantitative diligence write-ups for internal investment teams
Contribute to the design, enhancement, and implementation of IDD frameworks and evaluation methodologies
Build and maintain long-term relationships with external managers as a credible, value-add counterpart
Assist with manager sourcing and identification efforts.
Provide ongoing monitoring and re-underwriting of covered managers from a research perspective
Candidate Profile
Meaningful experience in hedge fund investment due diligence, manager research, or hedge fund strategy analysis
Strong background evaluating Long/Short Equity PMs
Experience contributing to or building IDD frameworks is highly desirable
Highly analytical with sound investment judgment and intellectual curiosity
Comfortable engaging senior PMs and articulating views internally with clarity and confidence
Backgrounds from hedge funds, funds of funds, pensions, endowments, or specialist advisory firms welcomed
